Sheraton Philadelphia Downtown Hotel

Our Mission

We're thrilled to welcome you to the 2024 Galactic Diversity & Inclusion Convention, organized by the Gaaays In Spaaace (GIS) team. This unique event blends the exciting realms of Science Fiction, Diversity & Inclusion, and the Space Industry, all from the viewpoints of often-overlooked communities.

After a successful first year in Philadelphia, known for its ethos of 'brotherly love,' we're back for round two. The weekend will feature renowned figures from the space sector and iconic actors from globally celebrated sci-fi series. Our collective aim is to champion the value of diversity and inclusion across these intersecting fields.
You are central to the success of this event. Your enthusiasm and dedication will create a meaningful and impactful experience for all attendees, guests, and organizers. Thank you for being a crucial part of our team!

About our Founding Organization
Welcome to GIS, a LGBTQIA+ non-profit aimed at boosting diversity and inclusion in both Hollywood and the Aerospace industry. We use both entertainment and science to go where no one has before—far past mere inclusion.

We team up with other related non-profit and corporate partners, actors, and scientists to create a future grounded in diversity. Our youth programs, like the Inclusive Space Academy, focus on empowering the next generation of LGBTQIA+ leaders. Remember, our youth are our future.
We also work to educate the public and our allies. Our goal is to replace ignorance with understanding of the LGBTQIA+ experience, inspired by the vision of universal equality found in shows like STAR TREK and THE ORVILLE. Because if you can see it, you can be it!

Since our start in 2016, we've held over 200 events in major U.S. cities, featuring over 60 celebrities and reaching over 20,000 fans. And recently, our founder Dan Deevy spoke at the United Nations General Assembly’s 'Science Summit,' talking about 'Promoting Access to Space' to a global audience.
